Kathmandu, Nepal,August 27, 2026:A devastating flash flood hit central Nepal 26.08.2026. A glacier collapsed and triggered a landslide near the Tibet border. The incident flooded much of the Rasuwa district.Floodwaters submerged large parts of the Rasuwa district.The Bhotekoshi River overflowed rapidly.Torrential water gushed into nearby villages. Strong currents uprooted numerous trees.Landslides and debris blocked key roads.Many houses were completely destroyed.A large number of cattle were washed away.At least 579 people lost their lives.Nearly 2000 people were reported missing.Affected residents were shifted to safe shelters.The government launched urgent relief measures. Military personnel initiated rescue operations. Emergency food, medicine, and clean drinking water were distributed among the victims.
