Past Perfect Tense-এর গঠন ও ব্যবহারের নিয়ম

১. বাক্যের গঠন (Structure)

(i) Assertive (হ্যাঁ-বোধক):

Subject + had + Verb-এর Past Participle Form + Others

Example: I had seen it before.

(ii) Interrogative (প্রশ্নবোধক):

Had + Subject + Verb-এর Past Participle Form + Others + ?

Example: Had I seen it before?

(iii) Negative (না-বোধক):

Subject + had + not + Verb-এর Past Participle Form + Others

Example: I had not seen it before.

২. Before ও After-এর বিশেষ নিয়ম

সহজ কথা: Before-এর আগে Past Perfect বসে, আর After-এর পরে Past Perfect বসে।

(A) Before (পূর্বে/আগে) থাকলে:

Past Perfect + before + Past Indefinite

উদাহরণ:

  • তিনি আসার পূর্বে আমি সেখানে গিয়েছিলাম।
    ➔ I had gone there before he came.
  • ডাক্তার আসার পূর্বে রোগীটি মারা গেল।
    ➔ The patient had died before the doctor came.
  • সূর্য ওঠার আগে আমরা ঘুম থেকে উঠেছিলাম।
    ➔ We had woken up before the sun rose.

(B) After (পরে) থাকলে:

Past Indefinite + after + Past Perfect

উদাহরণ:

  • ট্রেন আসার পর আমরা স্টেশনে পৌঁছেছিলাম।
    ➔ We reached the station after the train had arrived.
  • ডাক্তার আসার পর রোগীটি মারা গেল।
    ➔ The patient died after the doctor had come.
  • আমি ভাত খাওয়ার পর সে এল।
    ➔ He came after I had eaten rice.

8 মমতা আসার আগে আমরা বাগান পরিষ্কার করেছিলাম। We had cleaned the garden before Mamata came.
9 চিঠিটি লেখার আগে আমি সব ভেবেছিলাম। I had thought everything before I wrote the letter.
10 বাসটি ছাড়ার আগে আমরা স্টেশনে গিয়েছিলাম। We had gone to the station before the bus started.

15 পরীক্ষা শেষ হওয়ার পর আমরা ঘুরতে গেলাম। We went for a tour after the exam had ended.
16 চিঠিটি পাওয়ার পর সে কাঁদতে লাগল। He began to cry after he had received the letter.
17 সে যাওয়ার পর আমি অংকটি করলাম। I did the sum after he had gone.
18 শিক্ষক ক্লাসে আসার পর ছাত্ররা দাঁড়াল। The students stood up after the teacher had entered the class.
19 আলো নেভার পর চোরটি ঘরে ঢুকল। The thief entered the room after the lights had gone out.
20 টিফিন পিরিয়ড শুরু হওয়ার পর তারা খেলল। They played after the tiffin period had started.
