The Reward of Honesty, The Honest Boy

The Reward of Honesty

Once, two friends were returning from school. On their way, they saw a beautiful garden. Tempted by the colors, they entered to pluck flowers. Suddenly, the owner of the garden saw them and chased them in anger.

One of the boys fled immediately with the flowers. However, the other boy stood still and did not run. The owner caught him and asked, "Why did you not run away like your friend?"

The boy calmly replied, "He who runs after stealing accepts his guilt and deserves punishment. I made a mistake, but I will not run."

Hearing this, the owner was very pleased with the boy's courage and truthfulness. He forgave him and allowed the boys to pluck flowers from his garden daily.

Moral: Truthfulness is the greatest virtue.

The Honest Boy

Once, two friends were returning from school. They used to pluck flowers every day in a garden. Usually, no one saw them.

But one day, the owner of that garden saw them plucking flowers. Seeing this opportunity, he chased them. One of the boys ran away after stealing the flower. But the other boy stopped and did not run.

The owner asked him why he did not run away. The boy said:

"He who runs after stealing deserves punishment."

Hearing this, the owner was pleased. He allowed them to pluck flowers daily.
