The Clever Businessman
Once there lived a rich businessman. He had many servants to look after his house. One day, his golden wristwatch was stolen. The master grew worried and suspected two of his servants. But he wanted to find the real thief in a clever way. He gave each servant a stick of equal length and said, “Bring them back tomorrow. Remember, the thief’s stick will grow one inch longer in the night.”
All the servants went home. The real thief became afraid. He thought his stick would surely grow. So, in fear, he cut off one inch from his stick. Next morning, when the master checked, one stick was shorter than the others. The guilty servant was caught. The businessman recovered his watch and proved that wisdom is greater than strength.
Moral of the Story:
Cleverness and wisdom can solve problems better than force. Truth always reveals itself, and fear betrays the guilty.
