1. Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:

Bhola Grandpa and his wife lived at the western end of our village. A large bokal tree overshadowed their hut. In the bokal tree lived a small troop of monkeys. Bhola Grandpa and his wife did not mind it.

One moonlit night, we were returning from a festival. The road was long and foggy. I was riding on the village chowkidar's shoulders. Suddenly, Bhola Grandpa let out a loud wail. Everyone in our party was surprised. We halted. Enquiry revealed that Bhola Grandpa had taken his grandson to the festival. He had tightly held on to the two fingers of the boy. He did not realize when those fingers slipped out. Bhola Grandpa was continuing as before. Then someone asked Bhola Grandpa what he was gripping. He remembered his grandson and let out a loud wail.

3. Read the passage carefully and answer the following questions:

The history of India's progress in the field of nuclear research and development has been recorded in the book 'Atomic Energy in India: 50 Years'. It is an authentic account of the development of nuclear energy, mainly for the peaceful purpose but also for war, using it as a weapon of deterrence, rather than to take a nuclear initiative against any country. The book records the progress of atomic research from its inception to the stage of weaponisation and multifaceted utilization of a source of energy not yet fully harnessed. The Atomic Energy Commission came into action on 10 August, 1984. The visionary was Dr Homi Bhabha, the father of atomic research and development in India. The understanding and support of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru gave a firm shape to what Bhabha had conceptualised. The freedom of action given to Bhabha and his team in matters of decision making ensured high-quality work and rapid progress. Dr Bhabha's foresight and competence paved the path for India's nuclear research and development programme, giving to peaceful uses of nuclear energy with weaponisation, as an offshoot which came decades later, long after Dr Bhabha was killed in an air crash in 1996.
