Kolkata, July 20:A tragic boat accident occurred yesterday at around 4 p.m. near the Howrah Ghat on the River Ganga. The boat was carrying around 35 passengers. It capsized due to overloading and strong currents. Panic spread as passengers fell into the river.Local fishermen rushed to the spot and disaster response teams reached the spot immediately. With the help of rescue boats and divers, 30 people were rescued, while unfortunately, 2 persons were reported dead and 3 are still missing.The state government has announced financial aid for the victims' families and promised strict monitoring to prevent future mishaps.
