1. Reading Skill (Seen)
"Read the following passage and answer the questions given below:
When he got up in the morning, he was amazed. The sky was clear and empty! Not a trace of rain in the courtyard. He was surprised and saddened-the clouds had moved across the skies without shedding a drop of rain. And it saddened him to think that he had fallen asleep. Had he stayed awake perhaps, the clouds would not have disappeared like that. It would have been the season's first rainfall.
The month of the rains was slipping away. He looked up once again at the skies. Not a single patch of cloud. The sun beat down on his head from a clear sky. In the fierce heat, he walked between the fields. His body was on fire, his throat dry. After crossing several fields, he saw a large tree in whose shade a Persian wheel turned gently. It was like he had reached an oasis in the middle of a desert. He reached the shelter of the tree and splashed the cool water
from the Persian wheel on his dusty feet. Then he washed his hands and face and drank his fill.

One of the greatest mysteries of birds' life is travelling. Every year during autumn and early winter, birds travel from northern regions of Asia, Europe and America to southern warmer lands. They make their return journey during spring and early summer. They are punctual unless they are delayed by bad weather. They face many dangers and hardships while travelling long distances through the air, over hills, forests, plains and large stretches of water. Sometimes, sudden storms arise and drive them far out of course. Often they are blown right out to sea and are drowned in the wild waves. At night bright lights attract and confuse birds. They cannot fly at their fastest. The migration speed is usually from 48 km to 64 km per hour and rarely exceeds 80.

7. Writing Skill: Selfishness
Selfishness
Self-love is a natural human instinct and is good to an extent, but when it turns into selfishness, it becomes bad. Selfishness is often regarded as the root of all evils. A selfish person always puts their own interests first and thinks only of their own happiness, ignoring the needs of others. Consequently, such a person eventually becomes friendless because no one likes a person who does not care for others. To lead a meaningful life, sacrifice is needed. We should strive to be selfless in return; by loving others, we can truly be loved in return.
