Past Indefinite / Simple Past Tense

সহজ ভাষায় ইংরেজি গ্রামার শিখুন PKG SIR-এর সাথে

অতীতকালে কোনো কাজ "হয়েছিল" বা করা হয়েছিল বোঝালে Past Indefinite Tense হয়।

💡 মনে রেখো: Assertive বাক্যে Verb-এর Past form বসলেও, Negative ও Interrogative করার সময় 'Did' ব্যবহার করলে Verb-টি আবার Present form-এ ফিরে আসে।

(i) Assertive Sentence (হ্যাঁ-বোধক)

Structure: Subject + Past Form of Verb (V2) + Others

1. রাম ভাত খেয়েছিল। ➔ Ram ate rice.
2. আমি স্কুলে গিয়েছিলাম। ➔ I went to school.
3. রাম ক্রিকেট পছন্দ করত। ➔ Ram liked cricket.

(ii) Interrogative Sentence (প্রশ্নবোধক)

Structure: Did + Subject + Verb (Present Form) + Others + ?

1. আমি কি স্কুলে গিয়েছিলাম? ➔ Did I go to school?
2. রাম কি ক্রিকেট পছন্দ করত? ➔ Did Ram like cricket?

(iii) Negative Sentence (না-বোধক)

Structure: Subject + Did not + Verb (Present Form) + Others

1. আমি স্কুলে যাইনি। ➔ I did not go to school.
2. রাম ক্রিকেট পছন্দ করত না। ➔ Ram did not like cricket.

Past Modal Verbs (Might, Could)

(i) Assertive: Subject + Modal + Verb (V1) + Others

- তারা আসতে পারত। ➔ They might come.
- রাম এটি পড়তে পারত। ➔ Ram could read it.

(ii) Interrogative: Modal + Subject + Verb (V1) + Others + ?

- তারা কি আসতে পারত? ➔ Might they come?
- রাম কি এটি পড়তে পারত? ➔ Could Ram read it?

(iii) Negative: Subject + Modal + Not + Verb (V1) + Others

- তারা নাও আসতে পারত। ➔ They might not come.
- রাম এটি পড়তে পারত না। ➔ Ram could not read it.
