Simple Sentence Rules
Combine into a Simple Sentence:
Original: I know the man. He is honest.
- đĩ I know the honest man.
(Using "honest" as an adjective) - đĩ I know the man to be honest.
(Using an infinitive phrase)
Why these are "Simple"?
In grammar, a simple sentence contains only one independent clause (one subject and one predicate). It has only one finite verb.

I (Subject) know (Verb) the honest man (Object). |

1. The boy is my brother. He is wearing a blue shirt.
Ans: The boy wearing a blue shirt is my brother.
2. We saw a girl. She was carrying a flower basket.
Ans: We saw a girl carrying a flower basket.
3. He bought a house. It was very expensive.
Ans: He bought a very expensive house.
4. I met a traveler. He was from an antique land.
Ans: I met a traveler from an antique land.
Sentence Transformation
Two Sentences into One Simple Sentence
Example I know the man. He is honest.
Ans: I know the honest man.
1 The boy is my brother. He is wearing a blue shirt.
Ans: The boy wearing a blue shirt is my brother.
2 We saw a girl. She was carrying a flower basket.
Ans: We saw a girl carrying a flower basket.
3 He bought a house. It was very expensive.
Ans: He bought a very expensive house.
4 I met a traveler. He was from an antique land.
Ans: I met a traveler from an antique land.
5 Give me some water. I want to drink it.
Ans: Give me some water to drink.
