Five rivers associated with the Amarnath or nearby regions in Kashmir:
1. Lidder River – This is the most important river near Amarnath. The Amarnath Cave is located near the origin of the Lidder River in the Anantnag district.
2. Sind River – A major tributary of the Jhelum River, it flows nearby in the Sonamarg area, which is one of the base camps for the Amarnath Yatra (Baltal route).
3. Jhelum River – The main river of the Kashmir Valley, it flows farther from Amarnath but is hydrologically connected as many tributaries feed into it.
4. Aru River – A tributary of the Lidder River, it flows near the Aru Valley, which is close to the Pahalgam route of the Amarnath Yatra.
5. Sheshnag Stream – Originating near Sheshnag Lake, this stream is a high-altitude tributary that ultimately joins the Lidder River. It is encountered along the Pahalgam-Amarnath Yatra route.
