Once upon a time, a thirsty ant went to a river to drink water. Suddenly, he slipped and fell into the stream. The current was strong, and the ant began to drown. He was very helpless.

A dove was sitting on a tree nearby. She saw that the little ant was in danger. She quickly dropped a twig into the water near the ant. The ant climbed onto the twig and floated safely to the bank. He was very grateful to the dove.

After a few days, a hunter came to the forest. He saw the dove sitting on a branch. He aimed his arrow at the dove to kill her. The dove did not notice the hunter.

Luckily, the ant saw the hunter. He remembered the dove's help. He quickly crawled up the hunter's leg and bit him hard on the foot. The hunter cried out in pain and missed his aim. Hearing the noise, the dove flew away quickly. Thus, the ant saved the dove’s life.

Moral: One good turn deserves another.

Bengali Version (বাংলা)

একদা এক পিপড়ে খুব তৃষ্ণার্ত ছিল। সে জল পান করতে নদীর ধারে গেল। হঠাৎ সে পা পিছলে নদীর স্রোতে পড়ে গেল। স্রোত খুব বেশি ছিল এবং পিপড়েটি ডুবতে লাগল। সে খুব অসহায় বোধ করল।

কাছেই গাছের ডালে একটি ঘুঘু বসে ছিল। সে দেখল যে ছোট পিপড়েটি বিপদে পড়েছে। সে দ্রুত একটি ছোট ডাল বা পাতা জলে পিপড়েটির কাছে ফেলে দিল। পিপড়েটি ডালের উপর উঠল এবং ভাসতে ভাসতে নিরাপদে তীরে ফিরে এল। সে ঘুঘুটির প্রতি খুব কৃতজ্ঞ হল।

কিছুদিন পর, এক শিকারি বনে এল। সে গাছের ডালে ঘুঘুটিকে বসে থাকতে দেখল। সে ঘুঘুটিকে মারার জন্য তীর তাক করল। ঘুঘুটি শিকারিকে লক্ষ্য করেনি।

ভাগ্যক্রমে, পিপড়েটি শিকারিকে দেখতে পেল। তার ঘুঘুর উপকারের কথা মনে পড়ল। সে দ্রুত শিকারির পায়ের কাছে গেল এবং জোরে কামড় দিল। শিকারি ব্যথায় চিৎকার করে উঠল এবং তার লক্ষ্যভ্রষ্ট হল। শব্দ শুনে ঘুঘুটি দ্রুত উড়ে গেল। এভাবেই পিপড়েটি ঘুঘুর প্রাণ বাঁচাল।
